Gallery of Words – Mayfair, Rosalind Wyatt.. Brilliant!

“Words have always been my inspiration – they are the seeds.  The collages incorporate textile and paper which becomes the canvas on which to write, paint and stitch.  The writing tools are diverse and the text can appear calligraphically or as abstract marks encapsulating the essence of each text.

The stitch works are about real stories – people and place.  The garments – often historic and genuine artefacts in themselves – become the canvas onto which letters and documents are written with a needle… ‘trans-sewn’…. “trans-sewn’ the act of hand stitching directly onto a garment to emulate the personal characteristics of a particular handwriting.

Design and calligraphy commissions expore the essence and feeling of the client’s brief and how to manifest that creatively within a single mark.”  Rosalind Wyatt 2011
